Une épée inspirée par une pièce archéologique trouvée en Norvège en 1888,  « héritage viking » pour un modèle assez tardif.

La lame puissante possède une longue gouttière d’allègement.

La garde est finement forgée dans un petit lingot de fer ancien.

La fusée est en chêne recouvert de cuir bouilli collé à la gélatine.

Sur la fusée, les deux inserts sont forgés à chaud dans deux petits morceaux de laiton massifs percés et formés sur un triboulet (enclume servant au forgeage de bagues). Comme ces inserts sont creux, le bois de la fusée vient se loger à l’intérieur et se trouve en buté entre garde et pommeau.
J’ai réalisé les gravures à l’échoppe et le ciselage au poinçon.

Le pommeau multilobé est forgé lui aussi dans du fer ancien.
La soie est rivetée en sortie de pommeau. Le point de rivure est caché par un bouton en laiton serti.

La lame, la garde, le pommeau et les inserts en laiton sont entièrement forgés.

L'ensemble est poli à la main.

A sword inspired by an archaeological find found in Norway in 1888.
This is a sword belonging to type XII.10, viking legacy for this late model.

The powerful blade has a long fuller. It is a good rigidity.
This blade is forged in a fine multilayered steel ingot.

The guard is finely forged in a small wrought iron ingot.

The grip is made of oak and it’s covered with boiled leather glued with animal gelatin.

On the grip, the two inserts are hot forged in two small pieces of solid brass and trained on a triboulet (anvil for forging rings). As these inserts are hollow, wood grip is housed within and is abutted between guard and pommel.
I realized engravings with a chisel.
The multilobed pommel is realized also in the wrought iron. The tang is riveted. The river is hided by a brass plug.

The blade, the guard, the pommel and the brass inserts are fully forged.

All the parts are polished by hand.
